Datsyuk Injures Wrist

The team is calling it an upper body injury, but replays showed pretty clearly that he fell awkwardly on his leftright wrist in the first period. He didn’t leave the game until intermission (though he later passed on a faceoff), so it’s possible it’s just precautionary. But even if that’s the case, I think John W.’s right:

Pretty much guaranteed he’ll miss tomorrow as well to give him the extra days off until (at least) Sunday

That’s a best-case scenario thought, though. There is some cause to think that way since he didn’t leave the game immediately, but that he left the game at all isn’t a great sign. A loss of Datsyuk for any length of time is bad news for this team and if it turns out to be more than just a sprain, it’s even worse news.

Now would be a good time for guys like Hudler, Franzen, Bertuzzi, Filppula and even Zetterberg to step it up. That was true before Pavel left the game. It’s even more so now.

Nice post right there… except it seemed like his right wrist

You're probably right. I only had one replay to go on due to satellite issues causing me to miss the first. I leaned on Pleiness' report there. I wish someone would post the video on YouTube.
