Who cares what the rest of the score was? What matters is that goose egg there. Do not come to me citing the 40 shots—they mean next to nothing. This was a sad effort.
I wish the Thanksgiving break were longer for the team so they could spend some time taking stock and maybe decide to stop making excuses. Maybe one day with family and food will be enough. I hope so.
They’ve got two games against dangerous, but highly beatable, opponents coming up. How are they going to handle them? Like last night? I sure hope not because the result will be the same.
It’s time to stop “plugging away like we’ve been” (not a direct quote, just a general sense of mindset) and start doing something different. The same “plugging” is not cutting it.
It’s time to right the ship. Three quarters of the season remains, but don’t take time for granted. Get it done now.
By the way, Happy Thanksgiving, folks. Among many other things, I’m thankful it’s not March.

I’m glad I wasn’t able to watch the last 2 games. What is that, 2 goals the last 3 games? Sad. Again, I have no idea what happened last night, but it looks like Bertuzzi isn’t the only one we should be piling on, this is a team-wide slump. Pavelec is a good young goalie, but I’ve had him on one of my fantasy teams this year, and for every good game he has, he has games where he gives up 3-5 goals as well, no way he should be shutting out the Wings.
I hate these games where they get 40 goals and lose, because all we here from them afterwards is how good they were to shoot that much, but they were just unlucky. Bullshit. Even knowing nothing about the game, I can imagine a lot of 40 footers with no screen. Judging by the games I have seen, they’re not cutting to the middle of the ice enough. Pavel’s best game this year IMO was the game at Vancouver, where both goals he scored he cut to the middle. No one does that anymore it seems, it’s all weak shit from the outside with no one near the net.
If you get a 2 goal against performance from Jimmy against Atlanta you HAVE to win. Period. Looks like goaltending is the least of our worries. I had better not read after their next practice that the line combos are the same. They. Aren’t. Working. How good could the chemistry be for any line right now? We. Aren’t. Scoring.
Ok, that’s enough.
Happy Thanksgiving All
One of the things I’m thankful for is a blog that I can talk hockey on, vent frustrations and express satisfaction, and is this well written and attended to. Thanks Matt.
