Latest on Handshakegate

Ansar Khan has what may be the most controversial comments the usually utterly uncontrovsial Henrik Zetterberg’s ever said, with disappointingly (but expected) down-playing comments from Nick Lidstrom, here.

I thought Hank looked pissed. I was sitting in the end where the Wings gathered after time expired, and after the handshake line, I remember thinking it was odd that a handful or so Wings were still hanging around, staring at the Pens. Of the 5-6 out there, Hank was the only one I paid attention to who it was, and he was just glaring over that direction, and finally, after everyone else left, Hank was the last one to skate off the ice and head down the tunnel. I didn't realize at the time why they stayed for so long, but now it's so obvious. Crosby's a punk, plain and simple.

I can understand Sid getting caught up in the celebration, and in some ways it's not a big deal. But for a guy who wants to be the team leader and the Face of Hockey, the standards are higher and the spotlight is brighter. It's the same scrutiny that is trained on Alex Rodriguez or Tom Brady or Kobe Bryant. You want that level of fame, you'd better have your act together at every moment. Nobody would have said "boo" if Kris Letang had missed some handshakes, but Sid can't get away with it.

He's still very young and I expect that he'll learn a lesson from this. Well, either that, or he'll turn out to be a punk.

    jvwalt,

His lack of any willingness to voice any regret over what happened proves that he's a punk.
