Helene St. James reports that Johan Franzen will not play tomorrow night in Phoenix. He did not skate today due to continuing soreness in his hip from a strain suffered prior to Saturday’s game in San Jose.
The lines will see a mixing-up as a result, as St. James relates:
Valtteri Filppula-Pavel Datsyuk-Tomas Holmstrom
Marian Hossa-Henrik Zetterberg Zetterberg-Dan Cleary (stays the same)
Jiri Hudler-Kris Draper-Mikael Samuelsson
Derek Meech-Tomas Kopecky-Kirk Maltby
Ansar Khan chimes in with some more information on how Franzen’s absence will effect the power play units.
Apparently, Franzen was feeling better with just one (now two) days rest, so it’s possible he’ll be good to go next Tuesday in Columbus after over a week’s worth of time off. Franzen told Khan he’s not complaining about the timing of the break.
Also, Chris Chelios will return to the lineup at the expense of Brett Lebda tomorrow.
