Update (7:25 AM): Unfortunately, “More to come” is probably going to mean Saturday. Life has gotten very busy at my end, with my new job and stuff I’d had to take care of when I get home. It’s killing me not to be able to comment more on this yet.
Thanks for your comments, everyone. If you’re going to the parade, enjoy! - Matt
They’ve done it!
What a season and what a finish.
Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Penguins on a great year!
More to come.

We are the Champions, Matt!
A-G-A-I-N!
One hell of a regular season!!!
One hell of a playoff season!!!
So many unbelievable stories on so many of the players and coach’s included.
Sitting here in the parking lot (supposed to be working) all four windows down, the breeze feels good, the air is pretty much liquid though, def leppard on the ipod. Feels like the last day of High School, no more hockey for a while.
Oh one hell of a Blog!
And
Stanley is ours!!!
GO WINGS!!!
Parade 11 tomorrow! Yeah baby! Last time we won the cup I was in the military (same when Pistons won) so I wasnt around for that. Its going to be a blast. Where is everybody going to camp out for the parade? Bar first? I wouldnt mind celebrating with some fans other than my friends so if anybody wants to meet up, have a drink and celebrate I think we are going to start/finish the day at the Anchor Bar on 1st and Fort.
YYYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS
I knew the Wings could do it, though you knew I had doubts about the League. I’m so glad that you were proved right. I’m so happy for all the Wings; so many great stories, so much adversity that they played through, and they did it with such class. Dallas Drake. Darren Macarty. Darren Helm. Jiri Hudler. Chris Chelios. Datsyuk and Zetterberg. Who can forget Chris Osgood and yes, Dominik Hasek. Justin Abdelkader. Derek Meech. Nick Lidstrom. Mike Babcock, Scotty Bowman, and Ken Holland. From the rookies on the team to the management. I am truly glad to be a fan of the 2008 Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings!!
As an aside, I live in Kentucky where most everyone doesn’t even know that there is such a thing as hockey, it was pretty cool that I got a call Tuesday morning from my boss (I work from home M-W), and said he was tired and it was my fault because he stayed up and watched the Wings up until the end of the 2nd overtime! I’m not sure if he’d watched a game of hockey in his life.
And he was stunned when I told him the Penguins won. He said, “Didn’t the Red Wings have two and a half times more shots? They were clearly the better team…”
I’ll make a Red Wing fan out of him yet!
Anyway, glad to see the Wings close it out. My playoff beard can finally come off. Again, thanks for all your hockey commentary- you’ve been a great read as I’ve attempted to get my hockey fix in the hockey void of Kentucky. Cheers!
GO WINGS!
Thank you OnTheWings for another great season!
HAVE MY BABIES MATT!!
(not really, more a play on the “Def Leppard” post earlier)
WOW, we won!!!
Thanks so much for your excellent coverage.
YES!!! What a great year!!!
Thanks for another year of great blogging, Matt.
Glad to find a positive blog about the Wings! So damn glad we won! A very deserving team to say the least, and so many deserving guys!
