Matt, you left out one huge factor the Wings have over the Pens, although it does play into the puck possession point: faceoffs. The Pens aren’t exactly stellar at the draws, while Detroit is #1 by far. This will be the key to the Wings’ puck possession beating the Pens’ puck possession. The Pens will always be behind, because the Wings will always gain control off the draw. That and great passing defencemen are the keys to Detroit’s game, and I agree with you, the Wings are in a class of their own when it comes to that style.
Great point, Alex. That’s all part of the possession game that the Wings play so well, where it all begins.
