Brunnstrom spurns Wings, chooses Dallas

Helene St. James reports that Fabian Brunnstrom has informed the Wings that he will not sign with them. He has apparently chosen Dallas instead. She speculates that the sticking point was playing time. The Wings wouldn’t give him a guarantee that he’d be in Detroit for longer than the first month of the season.

This is a nice way to start the series for Stars fans. I bet it won't be long before Wings fans start flooding Wings blogs with how this guy sucks, he couldn't make their team anyway, blah, blah, blah. Every team in the NHL wants this guy and he picked the Stars. Nice choice in my always humble opinion.

Now if only the Stars can end the series on a high note also…

For all the attention this guy is getting he BETTER be the leading scorer next year. Geeeeeezzzzz!

The Wings don't need Brunnstromm. That's why they didn't promise him a guaranteed roster spot. He chose to go to Dallas because he's going to get playing time there. Now what does that say about the Wings' depth compared to the Stars'?

Brunnstromm's been getting lots of attention because he's a "free" player, not because he's expected to lead the league in scoring. Why can't people understand that?

It's close to impossible for anyone to say "he's awesome" or "he sucks" considering that nearly no one has actually seen him play.

He probably didn't see a spot that would open next season for him on Detroit's roster, and chose the team that was most likely to give him an opportunity to play right away without the crushing pressure of Montreal or Toronto.

If he hasn't officially signed, I hope he doesn't change his mind after last night's a$$-whoopin' by Detroit with an assist by the refs.
