Pavel Datsyuk’s Hands

Here is a decent replay of Pavel Datsyuk’s amazing second goal in Game 3. The third angle shows what I wrote about immediately following the game. Let’s be clear: Theodore made no save at any time during that play.

I love that the announcers focus on Peter Forsberg, rather than Pavel Datsyuk’s quick hands.

Damn, Matt, you weren’t kidding, were you? Unbelievable. I saw what the announcers saw, it looked like a rebound to me. But having seen it again, I can’t say I’m too surprised. If anyone’s going to make a play like that, it’s going to be him.

Beautiful. And sadly, unnoticed by all. Even the Official Play-By-Play lists it as a Rafalski shot on net, then Datsyuk goal on the rebound.

That goal was incredible. I love how the announcer gave Datsyuk no credit, but instead credited the goal to Forsberg’s mess-up.

It’s because the announcers had no idea. To be fair, neither did I until I saw the replays.
