Hey Matt, it was Andrew Brunette who committed the turnover leading to Franzen's second goal, not Joe Sakic.

18 saves on 21 shots doesn't look too good, but Ozzie was great when the Wings needed him to be. He made a lot of saves on close range shots and that save on Liles at the end showed how calm, poised, and confident he's feeling at the moment. I thought the Liles goal was soft, but it clearly didn't rattle Ozzie.

The Wings could've and should've played a lot better in the second half of the game. But they sat back a bit and let the Avs back into the game. Something Babcock should address before Game 2.

Ian,

Chasing Theodore was heart warming, I agree. I too was glad to see the crowd rally behind Osgood. Like I've said before, he holds a place in the hearts of Wings fans that no other goalie has been able to take.

Shane,

Yeah, after I wrote that about Theodore, I've become more convinced that he really was just sick. I don't know which is worse, though. The guy should have sat, whether by his will or Quenneville's. He certainly had no business being near the lockerroom with the "flu."

As for the goal on Osgood, I see your point. He had the post covered fairly well and had a decent angle, but just didn't close the five-hole fast enough.

I don't think Theodore was pouting (or at least would like to think he wasn't) He was a solid teammate when benched in favor of Budaj last year so I don't see one bad game causing him to sulk. He's a better teammate than his off-season shenanigans would imply ;)

I also didn't think the 2nd goal on Osgood was soft, just a seeing eye shot that happens from time to time. I guess you could say he wasn't out far enough. He played solid the whole game though.

Three straight embarrassing games for Av goalies against Detroit:

Game 6, 2002: Statue of Liberty
Game 7, 2002: Chased Roy on 6 straight
Game 1, 2008: Chased Theodore on 4 straight.

That second goal on Ozzie was a vintage soft Ozzie goal, but he responded, and so did the crowd. Kudos to those that were there on the Ozzie chants. We don't want to see Dom again this playoffs, and those chants help that cause.
