On Nik Kronwall’s latest

“When I first saw it live, I thought definitely it was a penalty. I thought he came up. On review, Bonk sort of bent down and tried to duck under it. I didn’t think Kronwall left his feet. It was just a good, clean hockey hit.”

Regardless of Trotz’s comments to the media, I think it’s clear that Kronwall left his feet and led with his elbow, especially if you look at the slo-mo replay that starts at the 14 second mark of the video.

Like I mentioned over at my blog, I think Colin Campbell is simply too busy worrying about the drama between Avery & Brodeur to cast his eye westward…

I’m not going to dispute that. It was certainly questionable at best.

I’m all for Nik making big hits, but I’d prefer he keep them on the legal side of things. One of these times he’ll have the hammer dropped on him by the League offices.

After seeing people comment on this and other Wings sites after the Laperriere hit on Nick Lidstrom earlier this season, I would hope there would be some consistency in opinions when the table is turned. For the record, the Laperriere hit was patty-cake compared to the Kronwall hit. That type of hit by Kronwall deserves a 1-2 game suspension (even in the playoffs), and I’m usually pretty conservative when it comes to dealing out suspensions. It’s sad the Colin spends his time making a rule particular to Sean Avery dancing around in front of Brodeur and ignores that type of dangerous hit.

Uhmmmm we are talking about hockey here? right?
I mean if you dont like hitting there is always baseball. Course they still have bench clearers there, never mind.
