Steph,

That was my reaction when I first read about it. I don't know what I would have done if I'd seen it live!

Ron,

Yeah, the refs definitely blew it a bit there.

I definitely do not want to see Downey (or anyone else on the team, for that matter) go after Sakic if these teams meet again this season and Joe is in the lineup. That kind of vindictiveness has no place in the game, as the Bertuzzi-Moore incident showed us. Laperriere got his comeuppance already and that's it. I fully expect future Wings/Avs games to be emotional and physical, but there's no need for further "justice."

Whatever Babs was yelling, it's probably not something they can ever air. Maybe it'll be in the next <a href="http://www.amazon.com/dp/1589793196?tag=onthewin-20&camp=14573&creative=327641&linkCode=as1&creativeASIN=1589793196&adid=04K8C6VD2THJ3DVSZ74J&: rel="nofollow">Adrian Dater book</a> on the rivalry.

Looked like interference to me. And an elbow to the face? Two missed calls on one play!!. Since Lappy took out Mr. Norris Lidstrom, Downey has a mission to take out Joe if he ever comes back. What do you suppose Mike was yelling to Tony? Didnt look like he had much of a reply.

As soon as I saw it happen (after the bout of oh crap oh crap oh crap) I thought of that Yzerman puck to the face too. It was completely weird, the hit didn't look so bad, and I looking back and it now, yeah, I can see him favoring the knee, but I've never seen him look so completely lost out on the ice before. Seriously scary. 2-3 games, while of course not what you want to hear, is so much better than I thought we might be in for at first.
