I thought Flip played very ho-hum hockey at best. He was hemmed in way too often at the blue line for my liking.

WAYYYY too many dump ins. What's that all about?

Anyone else notice Lidstrom driving the net? 3 times in the 3rd period.

I was stunned...absolutely STUNNED by Z's feeble attempt in the shootout. I wouldn't try that shot on my playstation.

I, much like many of you, simply said...well, we're about due for a loss. No major deal.
That is until we play them in the first round.

/start Osgood
//backup with Howard
///Hasek if Hartigan is injured and we have no-one else to play goal

Matt, I'm with you 100%. Overall we're pretty fortunate that as Wings fans these are the problems we complain about!

Nathan,

You're right about Fil. He does seem to do better offensively when he's with old Grand Rapids teammates. I definitely appreciate what he brings to the table defensively, which is why I'm no harder on him. He's a good player whose had a bit of a rough time of it offensively.

You're right about Babcock's strategy. The risk of injury is too high to keep lines the same all the time. The more acclimated everyone is to each other, the better.

About all Samuelsson does when he's not scoring is puck-handle and create near chances. That's not much.

Thanks for the link.

I agree with most of your points for sure. Everyone was just out of sync. I think the Flip is getting better as the season wears on, but I really think he plays best with Hudler. When Babcock put Kopecky on that line they seemed to a have a bit of (perhaps Grand Rapids) chemistry. Though I admire the fact that Babcock is trying to build a team of guys that can play with anyone, and think it will pay off in the long run.

That said, I'm not worried about Flip because he's effective in many ways that don't show up on the scoresheet. Samuelsson is a concern though, because if he doesn't score, he doesn't do much for this team.
