Still concerned that we looked as flat as we did 2 games in a row. They are flooding the lanes (Chicago and St. Louis) and we can't answer that problem.

I fear the same old scenario....we make highlight reel goals, but fail to crash the net.

WHY? We have lost to teams that aren't supposed to make the playoffs....MULTIPLE times. Yes it is early, but noone is talking about WHY!!!!

Is goaltending soft?
Is our D collapsing too quickly?
Penalty regularity?
Bad officiating?
Better opponents?

NO to all of the above(well...not to the point that it could erase the current trends). There is a chink in the armour and I can't put my finger on it.

Not being alarmist, but trying to be real. Babs needs to fix whatever is wrong and I'm not sure he knows either.

2-2 would correspond with those terrible numbers for the last 4, that I posted in your Wed entry. It seems like a very creative 5 on 3, is the only PPG in 4 games.

They're 2-2 since the story of Hudler's demotion broke on the 4th. Better than 0-2, but still not great.

"Also, it looks like Jiri Hudler is being rewarded for his production of late, as he skated with the second line"

I my memory is not playing tricks, aren't they 0-2 since moving Franzen into "the Happy's" slot.

Very true. I think Dom would have started regardless, which is why I said that part of the story is a non-news item. Osgood's illness is more of a story, but it doesn't affect much beyond the starter for the game Sunday. If he's not better by then, we may see Jimmy Howard in net.

The Dom starting is a good move, regardless of the Oz's status.
As I mentioned in the comments on RW Corner "The Dom never has 2 bad games in a row.

Other things to consider:
It is a game where both teams are trying to halt losing streaks. Quite often both teams do not want to lose, so bad, that it winds up in a (gasp) shoot out. If that happens I will shut it off after OT, and just wait for the boxscore.
