Kind of a non-news item, but Ansar Khan reports that Dominik Hasek will start tomorrow night. He may or may not be backed up by Chris Osgood, who had to skip practice today because of the flu. If Osgood isn’t better, the team will have to call up Jimmy Howard.
Also, it looks like Jiri Hudler is being rewarded for his production of late, as he skated with the second line today while Johan Franzen was relegated to the fourth.
I apologize for not posting yesterday. A slow day new-wise and a school/work responsibilities sort of dictated that.

The Dom starting is a good move, regardless of the Oz’s status.
As I mentioned in the comments on RW Corner “The Dom never has 2 bad games in a row.
Other things to consider:
It is a game where both teams are trying to halt losing streaks. Quite often both teams do not want to lose, so bad, that it winds up in a (gasp) shoot out. If that happens I will shut it off after OT, and just wait for the boxscore.
Very true. I think Dom would have started regardless, which is why I said that part of the story is a non-news item. Osgood’s illness is more of a story, but it doesn’t affect much beyond the starter for the game Sunday. If he’s not better by then, we may see Jimmy Howard in net.
“Also, it looks like Jiri Hudler is being rewarded for his production of late, as he skated with the second line”
I my memory is not playing tricks, aren’t they 0-2 since moving Franzen into “the Happy’s” slot.
They’re 2-2 since the story of Hudler’s demotion broke on the 4th. Better than 0-2, but still not great.
2-2 would correspond with those terrible numbers for the last 4, that I posted in your Wed entry. It seems like a very creative 5 on 3, is the only PPG in 4 games.
Still concerned that we looked as flat as we did 2 games in a row. They are flooding the lanes (Chicago and St. Louis) and we can’t answer that problem.
I fear the same old scenario….we make highlight reel goals, but fail to crash the net.
WHY? We have lost to teams that aren’t supposed to make the playoffs….MULTIPLE times. Yes it is early, but noone is talking about WHY!!!!
Is goaltending soft?
Is our D collapsing too quickly?
Penalty regularity?
Bad officiating?
Better opponents?
NO to all of the above(well…not to the point that it could erase the current trends). There is a chink in the armour and I can’t put my finger on it.
Not being alarmist, but trying to be real. Babs needs to fix whatever is wrong and I’m not sure he knows either.
