if hasek wants more money...ship him off, the wings defense is spectacular i bet any of us could have great numbers in net playing behind the team the wings had last year. Actually even if we lost all 4 of those UFA's i say we are still a dominant force, scheinds would be the worse to lose but even then he spends 1/2 the time in the penalty box, we'll miss him on the point for sure but someone will step up, lilja/meech and lebda all got another year of experience under their belt now they can only be better.
Markov is another guy that could be easily replaced, he didn;t do anything to disapoint me last season but then he didn;t really do anything to impress me that much either. And bertuzzi... I think if he is healthy, playing with hank and dats he could have the season of his career, would love to see him throwing people around and putting the puck in the net like he is capable of, downside is...we got a lot of young (almost)wings who need to start getting icetime, if we keep signing free agents and loading up perceived weak spots on the roster with 35-40 year old vets these young guiys are never gonna get a chance to play.
They talking about grigorenkov (sp?) playing this season, and meech can play, hudler can play ellis and kopecy are ready for full time (in minimal minutes) duty.
Just throw out the team we got now save some money for when we can really need it (like when a young allstar hits the market in a year or two)
In the long run and even the short term i think we got the best team i the league even without these big 4 ufa's.

Alex,

One of the two will be Dom, that much seems certain, even though he's asking for a raise.

But I'm not so sure about Schneider. All the talk lately seems to be that he's angling at leaving if he can't get his market value. The Wings obviously want him back, but their fall back is Markov. Danny is a good defenseman and all, but I'd much rather have Schneider. Hopefully he'll stick around.

I wouldn't be heartbroken if Bertuzzi ends up leaving, though I, like you, would like to see what he could do when fully healthy. Like you say, the upside of his departure would be a (hopefully) increased role for Jiri Hudler.

Well, I'm pretty sure if it's only two vthat it'll be Schneids and Hasek Matt. Markov wasd already rumored as being the sacrifice. Bertuzzi......I dunno, I would've liked to see what he could do fully healthy, but i think Kenny can pick someone up to fill his void (maybe Slava Kozlov, like you suggested a couple weeks back).

This is a bit of saddening news, but it could also be good. If bertuzzi isn't back, that could mean Jiri Hudler gets a roster spot come the fall.
