Paul,

I say that because you can see Niedermeyer line Holmstrom up from about 20 feet away and then take 3-5 steps going in there. I'll have to watch it again when I'm on a faster connection, but it still seemed questionable to me, though not as much as Pronger's part in it.

"Niedermayer and Pronger should both get a one-game suspension"

I don't understand why people keep saying this. Niedermayer didn't do anything wrong, at all - not even close.

I agree with Matt about Babs' genius. I think the Wings outcoached the Ducks last night. If Carlyle likes to match lines, he must have really been thrown for a loop in the first period. I could barely tell if there was a consistent line. Getting Pav and Hank out there with almost everyone was infectious. I giggled when we scored on Bryzgalov right after they pulled Giguere. I've seen the Wings play better breaking into the zone, but I'm definitely happy with the outcome. The Wings keep proving all of the trash-talking commentators and pre-game analysts wrong game in and game out. Oh and I hate Mike Emrick's (sp?) voice. Sometimes he scares my cats. I am not a fan of Engblom's mullet and I doubt Keith Jones' and Bill Clement's "expertise".

Im give or take on Kronwall comming back. I believe at times yesterday Quincy has looked 'mortal' and coughed up some (to be expected) pucks. Kronwall is no doubt an amazing defensman who would fill a powerplay blueline spot that is sorely missed from Matt goingdown - but I can only imagine he will be rusty if not at least playing at 90% health. Quincy is eating mins, and is doing everything you can expect - how can you hate on that? Then again - Kronwall is a top 4 defenseman, he could shrug the rust off and make a huge difference.

On a note - How great is Chelios? 7 for the playoffs - leading the wings. That's amazing.

Do you really want a guy, on defense of all places, coming back in the Finals after not playing for 2 months? I don't. That little bit of rustiness could cost you a critical goal and maybe even the series. Go with the horses who have taken you there.

I haven't seen it anywhere on the blogosphere, but USA Today is reporting that Kronwall will start skating on his own today or tomorrow. How clutch would it be to get him back just in time for the Cup final if we get there?

That's IF, IF, karma gods!

Pronger is a long time cheap shot artist, and like all the others, he will get away with this one as well.

Niedermayer and Pronger should both get a one-game suspension (actually more is justified) for a deliberate attempt to injure Holmstrom. The NHL won't do squat though, we all know it. You can't fight, but it is ok to intentionally slam a guys head into the glass because you're getting your clock cleaned on the scoreboard? That is what the joke we call the NHL has become. Holmstrom could have been knocked out of the remainder of the playoffs (or worse) from what was just a cheap shot. If the league has any stones they will recognize the intent to injure and suspend both these goons for 3 games. There is just no place for such blatant head hunting. Mark my words...Pronger will not get any punishment for this.
