Via Eric McErlain, the NHL now has a deal with Amazon’s Unbox video download service. DRM issues aside, this is good news for the NHL, which is fast becoming more in step with the online movement. I just wish they’d sign a deal with the Joost people.

I’m actually a big fan of the Unbox service, but Joost is a little more impressive. I would also love to see the NHL deal with them — that would be amazing. I can’t imagine that would be far behind.
Either way, this is great for what Shelly Palmer calls “Over the Top” delivery.
The cable companies must be shaking in their boots.
Martin
Martin,
I haven’t used Unbox myself. I just remembered the hue and cry about it when Amazon opened the doors, but if you’ve used it and can vouch for it, all the better for the NHL.
I’ve been wanting to point the League to Joost for a while, but it’s one of those ideas that gets on the backburner and never comes off because other things take precedence.
Matt,
Can you help me out with a Joost invite?
