The Hat on Pavel

The Globe and Mail’s Eric Duhatschek has a good piece on Pavel Datsyuk worth checking out.

What a great write up. What Ken Holland said about Datsyuk at the end was borderling shivers

“Steve feels he’s got ‘em all — and that’s good enough for me.”

I just hope that Zetterberg doesn’t see Datsyuk’s contract as a yard stick to start his negotiations. With the salary cap, it’s hard to imagine that the Wings will be able to pay all of their talent what they are worth, or at least what they’ll be offered from other teams. Dropping Lang (cross your fingers) should clear up some room though.

    Tom,

I doubt Hank will give the Wings much trouble in negotiations. All they need to do is make it of similar length.

Lang is definitely gone after this year. I cannot see the Wings bringing him back and I doubt he even wants to be back. He and Babcock do not mix.

Lang’s gotta go. I haven’t seen a player play so lazily since Hull’s last couple years… why isn’t Babs sitting him out instead of Hudler??!

The only thing I have a problem with when it comes to Pav’s high salary, long term contract )and a possible one for Hank as well) is the question of how we’re going to be able to afford a top-notch goalie.

    GO WINGS!!!!!

I guess the hope is that the cap will go up enough to allow for that, firebettman. If it doesn’t, they have a couple young guys that will be good ones, after some growing pains, and who won’t cost much until later.

Whatever happened to Jimmy Howard? I thought he was supposed to be a young Superstar like Ryan Miller. I imagine he’s playing for the Griffins, but does anyone really expect big things from him?
