Update (9:33 PM): The TSN article I linked to earlier now says that Williams has been placed on IR, “due to a first-degree concussion and facial laceration.” So, apparently, it’s not just a day-to-day thing. Nice of TSN to completely change their article… - Matt
Update (9:00pm): Mike Babcock says Williams is “day-to-day,” pending recovery from his concussion and a decrease in head size:
We’ll see how he does. Anytime you’ve got a cut on your forehead — you gotta put a helmet on your head, the swelling’s gotta come down.
Thanks for the insight, Babs. -Sarah
Ansar Khan reports that Jason Williams will not play tomorrow night against the Predators, having sustained a minor concussion (a contrast with the TSN report) as a result of the hit by Raffi Torres in last night’s game. Apparently, he’s okay, but is going to have to be tested further, and could sit out more than a game.
To fill out the roster during Williams’ absence, Brad Norton was recalled, “before he had even left town,” having fortunately decided yesterday that he’s okay with being sent to the minors. With Tomas Kopecky sitting out as a healthy scratch last night, Norton may not get a chance to play as Babcock will probably go with offensive talent over brawn now that a spot has opened in the lineup.
