According to Ansar Khan, Jiri is still holding out hope that he will be able to make a return to the ice. He’s basing his hope on the idea that the answer could lie in eliminating “toxins” in his body, and will continue to look for answers, “even if it takes until I’m 45.” He apparently has had no relapses since the weeks immediatley following the original incident just over a year ago.

It’s good to see some more coverage on one of the saddest stories to come out of the hockey world in a while. With so little progress apparently being made on answering his questions, I think it’s easy not to think about Jiri and to forget how his promising career was cut short so suddenly.
