It wasn't realistic to hope he'd take $6 million or less but the Wings come out of this with a good deal. Hopefully Holland will be able to use the extra money and attract some of the types of players the team needs. I know lots of people were hoping Lidstrom would sign for $7 million or less. That would have obviously been nice but Lidstrom is worth the $7.6 million he will make. The only hole in his game is he isn't a real phsyical presence, however you can sign a rugged Dman and pair him with Lidstrom. Good move by Holland and Lidstrom to get the deal done.
