On the Wings

Red Wings owner Mike Ilitch has called Fedorov and made a personal plea. Now it’s up to Sergei to make his decision. Hopefully it will be to come back and take one of four offers the Wings have on the table — for one, two, three, or four years. Apparently the talk didn’t go into the money aspect but Illitch told Sergei that there would be no hard feelings if he does come back, that he and the management like him. The Wings have taken a gamble on Sergei not getting $10 million on the market and they look to be right. Hopefully, they’ll be able to get him back for less than that amount because if they have to pay him $10 million and they get someone high-priced for Joseph, their payroll will really skyrocket
